The Peace Plan

A moment before the moment

Before a procedure, there’s often a lot of focus on the medical side—tests, timing, outcomes.

But there’s also a moment that often gets missed… the moment right before everything begins.

This is a simple way to enter that moment with peace, intention, and purpose.

This is a Peace Plan—

a short, meaningful pause before a procedure where you:

• center yourself. • acknowledge the people caring for you. • and invite peace into the room

It’s not complicated. It’s not disruptive. It’s simply human.

THE PRAYER

Dear Lord,
Thank You for bringing us together in this room today.
I’m not afraid. I trust that You have placed me in skilled and capable hands.
I pray over each person here—guide their hands, steady their minds, and fill this room with peace.
Remind them that what they do matters deeply—every patient is a life, a story, a family.
Bless them beyond this room—their homes, their families, their rest.
Let them feel calm, purpose, and care today.
And whatever the outcome, I trust You are already there.
Amen.

This is the song I’ll be listening to beforehand.

If music brings you peace, you can include a song that means something to you.

  • Bring a small printed card
  • Let your care team know your plan
  • Take 30–60 seconds before anesthesia
  • Speak calmly and simply

Healthcare moves quickly. This creates a pause where: • people feel seen• purpose is remembered• peace enters the room

Print, carry, or keep this with you for the moment before the moment.

This was my prayer.

This is the prayer I’ll be using. If it helps you, you’re welcome to use it for your own moment—and make it your own
